TeenWorks Food Forest: Turning Visions to Reality
Over six weeks, the Food Forest and Grounds & Gardens crews planted fig, cherry, persimmon, and apple trees that will one day provide free, healthy food for neighborhood families while increasing the neighborhood's tree canopy.
Expanded rainwater harvesting and solar power systems conserve natural resources and will help provide even more fresh food for community meals and neighborhood distribution.
The true measure of this work won't be seen at the end of the summer; it will be seen years from now.
Thank you to the Glick Foundation for investing in our youth, to the Convergint Dream Team and our many partners for believing in this vision, and to the TeenWorks participants whose hands and hearts have helped create a legacy that will nourish the Near Northwest community for generations to come. We also thank the team at Trane Technologies for building a stage along with the hard working Xterns from Tech Point.
Partner Spotlight: Gleaners
The Aspire House and Gleaners partnership started in August of 2025 and has grown steadily in that short time. Serving families consistently and adapting to the neighbors' needs is what Aspire House does incredibly well, and Gleaners is proud to work alongside them. The Aspire House pantry has served nearly 2,500 households and over 21,000 pounds of food and continues to grow each month!
TeenWorks Culinary Program Update
At the Aspire House Ryze Kitchen, the TeenWorks Culinary Program is about more than just teaching students how to cook. We want to help prepare them for life. Every day in the kitchen is an opportunity to build confidence, learn the importance of food safety and sanitation as they work toward their ServSafe Food Handler certification, and develop the discipline, teamwork, and work ethic needed to succeed.
Thank you, Amy Anderson and Convergint "Dream Team"
Convergint Technologies donated materials and equipment to renovate and transform multiple green spaces. The Dream Team planted new flowers and native plants along the perimeter of Frank Young Park, clearing weeds and overgrowth too.
